REAL MADRID’S NEW SIGNING IS AN INSTANT SUCCESS!

Real Madrid are riding high in ‘La Liga’ the Spanish football league and benefitting from having a newly constructed pitch. Last autumn, Paul Burgess, head groundsman at Real Madrid selected Limagrain’s 100% perennial ryegrass mixture MM60 for the world famous Santiago Bernabéu Stadium.

Paul previously used MM60 when he worked at the Emirates Stadium here in the UK and has been delighted with the result at Real Madrid: “MM60 has worked fantastically in the stadium environment here in Madrid. We’ve had a harsh winter like the UK so the stress on the grass has been extreme but the pitch has performed superbly all season.”

This year Paul has the extra pressure of holding the Champions League final in May, but he is satisfied that the pitch will remain in pristine condition for the most prestigious final in club football.

Fittingly, MM60 contains the new perennial ryegrass cultivar called Madrid, a chart topper on the STRI winter sports variety list! As with all the grasses used in the prestigious MM range, the seed is treated with the biostimulant Headstart to help enhance seedling establishment – especially when growth conditions in the early stages are not ideal.
